Emerge Oregon Class of 2011 with Executive Director, Laura Coyle
On September 24th, Emerge Oregon graduated its third class of women at Portland State University.  Emerge America President Karen Middleton spoke about the camaraderie of women coming out of the Emerge program, across Oregon and across the affiliate network.  She addressed the need to build these bridges and these bonds as a foundation for supporting women when they run for office.  And graduating Emerge student Kellie Johnson spoke about the empowering nature of the class and the support she has drawn from her own classmates.  It was a fantastic ceremony, celebrating all the successes of the women from this class.
And just three days after graduation, recent alumna Alissa Keny-Guyer was appointed to state representative for House District 46, filling a vacancy left by Ben Cannon in early September.  Way to go Alissa!

W2D Board members enjoy a night out on the town at a chapter meeting of Drinking Liberally, where like-minded progressives get together monthly to "promote democracy one pint at at time."
